Drugs & Alcohol

Drug and alcohol impaired drivers are a leading cause of death on the American highways. Because of this threat, the Center for Transportation Safety has integrated drug and alcohol awareness training into our driving curriculum from the classroom to the simulators.

The Center for Transportation Safety is proud to have Jim Porter as a Senior Technical Advisor and Community Education Coordinator. Jim has over 30 years of experience in drug and alcohol counseling and treatment, and is an inspiring teacher and counselor. He is the author of many industry-changing professional papers and is an internationally renowned speaker. Jim was instrumental in the development of the Volvo Impaired Driver Awareness Safety Events, where he continues to hold drug and alcohol awareness discussion groups with young drivers.

Jim Porter has developed a curriculum on drug and alcohol awareness specifically for the Center for Transportation Safety's clients and students. The curriculum is extremely informative, engaging, and "eye-opening." His curriculum is used in our Defensive Driving Course and Novice CDL Course (A and B license).

DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Facility

In addition to the drug and alcohol awareness curriculum, the Center for Transportation Safety also operates a DOT SAP qualified drug and alcohol testing facility, and provides Reasonable Suspicion Training and Drug and Alcohol Policy consulting and training. We can help your company establish a drug and alcohol Policy and implement your existing policy, as well as perform your Department of Transportation-mandated new hire, post incident, and random urine analysis tests.
